For VR Tourviewer version 1.2.303 a bug has been reported with the VR keyboard that appears when adding an online tour. The Shift and Caps-Lock button don't display the 'Shift' characters on the keyboard.

The correct characters do appear in the text field when a key is pressed, but currently you can't see which Shift characters are in which place. So if you first press Shift and then press 'a' an 'A' will appear in the text field.

To find the correct key you can use the image below for the layout of the keyboard when Shift is pressed.

Edit 2020-01-20: This issue is fixed in version 1.2.304

Due to an issue with version 1.1.243 causing the Default View of a panorama to be ignored, an update is released which fixes this.

If you're using 1.1.243 please update to 1.1.244.

For Oculus Go you can find the update in your Oculus Library.
For Oculus Rift you can download it here: https://www.vrtourviewer.com/download-vr-tourviewer-for-rift/
For Oculus Quest you can download it here: https://www.vrtourviewer.com/download-vr-tourviewer-for-quest/

The VR Tourviewer Remote version 1.1.243 doesn't have this issue, so it won't need an update, it can be used with VR devices running VR Tourviewer version 1.1.244.

For more info on changes since version 1.0.227, check here.

A new update of VR Tourviewer is now available: version 1.1 build 243

Full changelog here: https://www.vrtourviewer.com/docs/changelog

VR TOURVIEWER FOR QUEST

A much requested version is now available for download: VR Tourviewer for Oculus Quest. It's not available through the Oculus Store/Library yet, but can be 'side loaded' to your Quest. Detailed instructions on how to that, including a link to the download page can be found here. For both the Rift and the Quest versions, the Touch controller can now be used as a laser pointer.

SWIPE TO ROTATE VIEW

You can now use the touchpad on the Oculus Go controller or the thumbsticks on the Oculus Touch to rotate the view. This is ideal if you're in a fixed chair and can't easily look behind you. Just swipe left or right to adjust your view.

IMPROVED AUDIO AND VIDEO PLAYBACK

Directional audio is now also available for video overlays. For panoramic video, an issue has been solved that caused a short black or white screen right before playback.

TIMER FOR NODE HOTSPOT

You can now add a timer to a hotspot to trigger a click. This can be used to automatically load the next panorama after 10 seconds for example. More info here!

THANK YOU!

Several bugfixes have made the app more reliable and graphic and audio issues have been fixed. Thanks a lot to everyone who reported the issues they encountered, and everyone who requested certain features. The app will keep improving because of your feedback! So if you have any issues or a feature request, please let me know.
Big thanks to everyone!

It's not available through the Oculus Store/Library yet, but can be 'side loaded' to your Quest.
You can download it here: https://www.vrtourviewer.com/download-vr-tourviewer-for-quest
Instructions on how to install it can be found here: https://www.vrtourviewer.com/docs/install-vr-tourviewer-on-oculus-quest

The installation is a bit technical. So if you have any issues installing it, please leave a message on the forum for support.

For both the Rift and the Quest versions of VR Tourviewer, the Touch controller can now be used as a laser pointer.
The 'B' button is used to switch between the tour and the tour gallery.
The thumbsticks on the controller can be used to rotate the camera, this can be convenient when you're in a fixed chair and can't easily look all around you.

Any feedback on the Quest version of VR Tourviewer is much appreciated!

Really looking forward to meeting other VR enthousiasts, so if you happen to be there that day as well and would like to meet, drop me a message!

An Oculus Quest VR headset is currently pre-ordered from Oculus. As soon as it arrives at the office I'll work on making a version of VR Tourviewer for Oculus Quest. Since the Quest functionality is similar to the Oculus Rift it could be pretty straight forward.

I'll post here again if I have any news on the subject.

Oculus has released it's new flagship of wireless VR: the Oculus Go. With this very affordable solution you're getting a high quality and high performance VR solution.

It performs better than Galaxy S6 and S7 phones and is on par with the S8 regarding performance. The Oculus Go has a bigger battery than any Gear VR phone so it will offer a longer VR experience. The built-in speakers offer better quality sound designed for spatial audio. The Oculus Go uses 1280x1440 pixels per eye, which is even better than what an Oculus Rift currently has to offer: 1080x1200 pixels.

VR Tourviewer supports the Oculus controller as a laser pointer to navigate the menu and the tours.

With the Oculus Go and VR Tourviewer you've got what it takes to impress your clients with awesome VR tour experiences.

This message means that the needed Oculus Signature for your device isn't included in the app yet.
This is a restriction by Oculus for the use of the Oculus VR Utilities in Unity.

How to solve this:

Information about the use of VR Tourviewer can now be found here:

Today a new update of the VR Tourviewer app is released, with some nice feature additions:

0.2 Build 78:
- support for overlay images and video, like in this example: https://ggnome.com/samples/pano2vr_5/blacksmith
- support for hotspot popup images, videos and text
- 3D scenery effects: snow, rain and leaves, to use this, add a Userdata tag in Pano2VR: effect=snow / effect=rain / effect=leaves
- use normal webaddress as url instead of path to xml file, the index.html will be scanned for the needed xml file

I've also developed a VR Remote Tourviewer for Windows, to be able to see what a GearVR user is seeing on a laptop or big screen. With normal screencasting applications, a videostream of the screen has to be transmitted. Due to the high CPU/GPU and traffic intensity of this technique, this results in lag in both the VR experience and the casted result. I strongly advise not to use such apps to avoid ruining the VR experience.

With VR Remote Tourviewer this has been solved by running an identical (non-VR) tour on the Windows computer, and only synchronizing the camera movement and user clicks. This results in a very high quality, low latency, synchronized view of the tour on a big screen.

Try the free demo to see for yourself. Check the installation instructions on the download page. The demo is limited to Featured tours only, but a full version can be purchased together with the app soon. If you need it sooner, please contact me.

Announcements / VR Tourviewer 0.2 build 53
February 23, 2017, 00:34:05
A new build is released for testing, version 53:

http://www.vrtourviewer.com/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=9

Changelog:

- Added support for Multi Resolution tours!!!

This means that now almost any Pano2VR 360 panorama tour can be watched with VR Tourviewer on GearVR.

Note: the level width is chosen closest to 1536 pixels, but no larger than 2048 pixels to avoid memory problems. If you see a very low resolution panorama, then make sure you output to a level with a width of 1536 in Pano2VR 'Image' settings. Level tilesize ideally is 510 with 1 pixel overlap (= default in 'Advanced').

Please let me know what you think of it!

Best regards, Ruud
